Microsoft Edge Browser

Excerpt

...

In December 2018, Microsoft announced their

intention to adopt the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge

of the desktop. The new Microsoft Edge is based on Chromium and was official released on 15 January 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS.

Microsoft began making contributions back to Chromium in areas like accessibility, touch, ARM64 and others. Their plan is to continue working working directly with the teams at Google and in Chromium rather than creating a parallel project. Both Teams from Microsoft and Google engineers have been working together to improve the underlying Chromium project so that Chrome and Edge run better on Windows. Microsoft has had around 150 commits accepted into Chromium, paving the way for improvements to Edge and Chromium on Windows 10. That includes improving accessibility, smooth scrolling support, Windows Hello integration, and things like ensuring the touch keyboard shows up reliably.

Microsoft claim that "with speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features, it's the only browser you'll ever need".
